Wheel Type Flintlock Flints

Home

Welcome to our web site!

Ever since the early 1600's, when the flintlock
ignition system was invented, the age old
question of what kind of flint works best
has been asked.

We think we have answered that question.

A Pennsylvania hunter named Thomas M. Kyper,
designed a flint using a mini sparkwheel backed
by a manmade flint, tension spring and set screw.
The unit fits between the hammer jaws like a
regular flint with the wheel facing the frizzen.
When the trigger is pulled, the wheel strikes
a friction pad on the face of the frizzen and begins to spin. The spinning movement creates a
very dense shower of sparks which are directed
directly into the flashpan by aid of a metal
spark deflector.

While quantities last, check ebay for periodic
listings : Wheel Type Flintlock Flint

Each listing will show draftsmans drawings,
the sparks it makes, and happy hunters.

Thanks....
